1. sponsor a child's education: Rs.500/month
Our school runs on no profit no loss basis. Many of the rural children cannot afford a formal education, therefore we award scholarships starting right from kindergarten. Most of our students come from underprivileged families of farmers or laborers, and therefore we have develop a programme of Child Support by which our Friends can "gift a life and a future" to these children. With a monthly donation of Rs. 500 you can help a child through school and support him or her with basic necessities such as medical checkups and care. Children are also regularly given fresh cow milk and tiffin at recess. To see more about our school, please click here...
2. sponsor a clean water well: Rs. 5000
Lack of clean drinking water is probably the single major cause of health problems such as gastro-enteric diseases, skin diseases and infections. It also contributes, through intestinal infection especially in children, to denutrition, anemia, weakening of the immune system and even life-threatening conditions. With your donation, you can finance the boring of a deep well that can serve a village, a temple or a community, dramatically raising the level of life quality for the people. The new abundance of clean water can also be used for bathing and cleaning the kitchen utensils, and supplying cattle with safe drinking water.
3. sponsor a voluntary field worker: Rs. 1000/month
Keeping direct contact with villagers is very important to understand their needs and problems and to offer them timely help. Most villages are rather isolated and lacking in infrastructures, including transportation, so we are doing the travelling, bringing our expertise and assistance to their doorstep. With your donation, you can support a voluntary field worker mobility enabling him to be where he is needed most.
4. support organic agriculture
Our Research & Development department has been studying organic agriculture and permaculture for many years, working at creating sustainable and self-empowering solutions specifically for Indian rural environment and economy. An important part of our work is the cottage-level natural food processing industry, valorising the local varieties of agricultural and horticultural products. For more information about our organic agriculture programmes, please click here....
5. support vocational training
A sustainable village economy is based on self-sufficient agriculture and horticulture as well as handicrafts. Useful and beautiful objects constitute an important source of prosperity besides being a means of creative cultural expression. Helping unemployed youths to develop their skills and to market their creations in the larger Fair Trade circuit, we connect the rural villages of India with a world that cares. For more information about our handicrafts training development programmes, please click here.... If you are in a position to help us widen our network of Fair Trade cooperation, please contact us. We are always looking for good people to partner with.
6. support micro credit and women empowerment
Developing self-confidence and a sense of dignity, trust and cooperation, is the key to the genuine progress of the rural population. Women are an immense potential for the prosperity and progress of family and society, and with a little help they can go a long way in transforming their own destiny and the life of their near and dear for the better. By contributing to our charitable fund for micro-credit you will directly participate to a powerful revolution for a development that starts at grass root level with a sense of responsibility and pride. Thanks to our global approach, we are able to support the beneficiaries not only with financial backing, but also with know-how on sustainable production, innovative ideas, market networking, and other important information and assistance for their development.
7. support seminars on sustainable development
Creating awareness and offering information is the first step to help people to understand a fast changing world and make the better of it, for a higher quality of life that does not endanger culture, tradition, and environment. We organise seminars, invite expert resource persons, and stimulate discussion on the issues and problems that concern people in their particular situation and area. Seminars are held in cities as well as in rural and tribal areas, in order to reach all groups of people.
8. support publications
The educated urban class in India is very often disconnected from the problems of the rural people and also from the natural solutions to a better quality of life. Our publications department produces printed books, consultation material and leaflets to raise the awareness of the middle class people and to encourage the underprivileged classes to develop an interest for reading. We are now developing a multimedia section for the production of e-books and CDs for the international community.
9. support health care
A little prevention can go a very long way in protecting the health of people, from before birth to ripe old age. The great majority of diseases and health problems of the rural people in India could easily be prevented or solved in the early stages, with minimum expenditure and effort. Sanitary and nutritional information, early medical checkups, and supply of safe medicines is one of the greatest needs we are working to face. We are also developing a programme of Mobile Dispensary Care to reach the isolated areas and villages.
10. support free food distribution
The distribution of good quality vegetarian food is not only a demonstration of the vast possibilities of the vegetarian way of life. It also becomes a social assistance service and an inspiration in social cooperation and brotherhood. Special programmes with distribution of vegetarian food are held on the occasion of popular festivals and celebrations.
11. support support youth programmes
The energy, the sincerity and the desire for progress are the most important contribution of young people to society. By encouraging the positive channeling of such resources we create inner satisfaction that protects our youngsters from the dangerous attraction to an artificial life style and the endless race for empty gratification.
12. support flood relief
Situated in the cyclone belt, Orissa is particularly exposed to the force of elements, especially with the growing problem of global warming and climate changes. Our approach to the problem goes beyond the usual emergency welfare that binds people to depend on irregular and aleatoric aid coming "from the outside". We start working well before any emergency materialises, for the systematic building of a proper awareness, self-empowerment, self-sufficiency and social solidarity in the face of disasters. |
